Return to work does not happen in a vacuum…it is a team effort. This page describes the various activities and responsibilities for each team member. Not every workplace injury requires every team member to be involved, but if the injury is significant enough to require transitional work (sometimes referred to as light duty), then here is how each can contribute.
- Provide First Aid
- Refer to Preferred Medical Provider
- Report Injury to Carrier
- Communicate with:
- Physician
- Employee
- Zenith
- Accommodate any work restrictions
- Provide employee with Notice of Transitional Work Assignment
- Discuss transitional work assignment with supervisor and employee
- Monitor status until released to full duties or until need to evaluate permanent modified or alternative position
- Report the injury to your supervisor immediately
- Seek medical treatment for your injury
- Comply with work restrictions from your medical provider
- Stay in communication with your employer and Zenith Claims Examiner
- Investigate claim and determine compensability
- Consult with provider on treatment plan and duration of disability
- Discuss treatment plan with injured employee
- Pay benefits
- Manage claim
- Communicate with employer, employee and provider
- Close claim
- Assist employer to set up:
- Transitional work assignments
- Permanent modified or alternative job offers
- Work with the doctor, employers and injured employees to manage the return to work process
- Help employers create return to work process and programs
- Assist employer to set up:
- Assist employers with the Accident investigation
- Development of Job Analysis
- Check on employee status periodically while on premise
